10/05/18 Research

Tomorrow I am going to finish my trap melody and then start to work on my trap bassi new and synths.

Today I am Researching:

  • Trap basslines, synths and bass drops
  • I am watching a good tutorial on how to make a trap/hip hip bass line (name of trap bass tutorial video) for refreshing my memory tomorrow in case I forget. So I can make a good trap bass line and get it out of the way.
  • How To make a real trap bass in Logic Pro X Logic Pro X Templates. name of the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BrDC9be-VEw
  • Logic Pro X: Create Custom 808 Trap Bass = Bolo Da Producer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BrDC9be-VEw( Another trap bass tutorial thats quite good)
  • I am also listening too some trap songs that I like to get the type of melody, kicks, bass lines, synths etc as well as the instruments that I should use and have my track sound like.
  • Fredo = They ain't 100 = https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9gYydBx1FMk I like the trap song because of the bass line is good.
  • Fredo = TrapSpot = https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cY48MWNmhMY The song has a good trap melody
  • Fredo = Pattern Gang = https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KGLq7dXg4qg Good example of a good popular uk trap song
  • Reeko = Banter Remix = https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=muySKY2R-go Another quality uk trap track with a good melody
  • Lil Baby = My Dawg Remix = https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-r9bIiUKIXA I like it and it has a good trap beat and melody.
  • Gucci on my = Mike Will Made It = https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KXd-FM51VsY One of my favourite trap songs it has a good beat, bass and melody synths. It has given me good ideas of what a good trap beat is as well as combining these ideas with all the other trap songs I've mentioned to make my trap beat. That will go well with my lyrics.
  • 21 Savage = X = https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SpXw0qiy3Wo This trap song has got good elements of trap and has given me ideas of how my flow should go for my trap tracks and the type of lyrics and chorus/hook I should use fora good trap track.
  • Future = Low Life = https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_9tX4eHztY This is one of my favourite trap songs of all time. It has a good melody and a hard trap beat, bass and synth. It also has given me ideas to sing some lyrics in some of my future trap songs as well as rap. I might use autotune to help finish off my singing for some songs not all of them. But I won't use it for rapping. It has given me good ideas for some banging trap tunes.
  • I have followed my FMP Plan for today as too what I will research this lesson as well as things that will better my track production.
This research links to my project as I was making a trap beat and was looking at examples of trap songs that I like and that my track would be in the same style and similar sort of instruments as them.

What I have found out from this research is that trap basses and synths have certain sounds that I would need to use to give my track that edgy trap feel. I have also found out what type of sounds and instruments I would need to use for my track to fit the trap/rap genre by looking at some of my favourite tracks of that genre and what instruments and sounds they use. This research benefits me as it then tells me what I need to use in order to make my FMP track the right genre that I planned to make. It also gives me a tip of how fast I should rap and what I should rap about.

  1. James, you have done very good work.. This is a good start, but as we have discussed during each lesson, you need a separate blog, dated each week. So two per week, one for research (Thursday's) and one for Reflection (Fridays). You should have a total of at least 16 blogs by the end of this project, 8 for research and 8 for reflection. You will also have a final blog talking about the journey of the whole process. There will be a minimum of 17 blogs by the end.

If you have any questions, please ask me for help during class time.

Also, once you have done this, please let me know so I can give you further feedback.
